IPL (Intense Pulsed Light treatment)

Say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and more. With the innovative Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) procedure, gentle skin rejuvenation is now easier than ever. IPL™ photorejuvenation is the latest in modern dermatology, allowing patients to transform red, blotchy skin into a radiant complexion. If you suffer from any of these problems, IPL treatments may be the dermatological approach you've been looking for.

IPL is a 30-minute procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate deep into the skin. IPL™ photorejuvenation then causes collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The procedure involves only minimal discomfort, while the redness and swelling that sometimes occur after treatment disappear shortly. Most benefits of an IPL occur gradually in the weeks following treatment.

Post treatment may include temporary darkening of brown spots, redness, burning similar to a sunburn, slight swelling, bruising, hyperpigmentation.

The most important things to remember following IPLTM photofacial treatment are to avoid the sun for several days and to wear plenty of sunblock for at least two weeks.

VBEAM

The pulsed dye laser (Vbeam) produces an intensive but gentle burst of laser light at a certain frequency that is absorbed by blood vessels and not by the skin. In this way, the laser does not damage the skin and only destroys the excess vessels underneath the skin, thus, reducing the risk of scarring or need for surface healing.

  • It is used for the treatment of:

  • Rosacea – helps seal off spider veins to control flushing and redness

  • Facial veins – dissipates enlarged or broken veins on the cheeks and around the nose

  • Scars – takes the red out of acne scars, injury scars or red surgical scars making them less noticeable

  • Red birthmarks – hemangiomas and port wine stains

  • Angiomas -removes the tiny “drops of red” that can appear anywhere on the body and often trouble women on their chest.

  • Poikiloderma of Civatte – diminishes uneven coloring of the neck

  • Venous lakes – helps shrink this dark blue vascular “bubble” on the lip, face or ear.

  • Warts and non cancerous growths

Patient needs to wear sunscreen before and after treatment.  Post treatment may include redness, slight burning similar to a sunburn.

Smoothbeam

SmoothBeam is an advanced multi-effect non-ablative* laser treatment for acne scarring, active acne and collagen building. These quick and comfortable laser treatments are highly effective in reducing active acne and acne scars and reversing some of the collagen loss of aging

Treatment with the Smoothbeam laser results in smoother, more evenly textured skin. The results of this procedure are usually more dramatic than those of exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion, but less so than those of laser skin resurfacing. After a Smoothbeam laser procedure, most patients require no significant aftercare and can return to their normal activities immediately. However, patients should avoid direct sun exposure for four to six weeks and take care not to irritate the skin with harsh or exfoliating cleansers. Treatments with the Smoothbeam laser are quite effective for reducing enlarged pores, fine lines around the eyes and mouth, wrinkles, and acne scarring. Smootbeam laser treatments can also be used regularly to manage acne and maintain a fresh, renewed complexion.

Laser Hair Removal:

If you're not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering. Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the U.S. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorb the light. That destroys the hair.

If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, you should limit plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for six weeks before treatment. That's because the laser targets the hairs' roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.

You should also avoid sun exposure for six weeks before and after treatment. Sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective and makes complications after treatment more likely.  For a day or two afterward, the treated area of your skin will look and feel like it's sunburned. Cool compresses and moisturizers may help. If your face was treated, you can wear makeup the next day unless your skin is blistering.

Over the next month, your treated hair will fall out. Wear sunscreen for the following month to help prevent temporary changes in the color of the treated skin.

Blisters are rare but are more likely in people with darker complexions. Other potential side effects are swelling, redness, and scarring. Permanent scarring or changes in skin color are rare.

Kybella

Kybella is a non-surgical injectable for reducing moderate to severe fat on the upper neck, otherwise known as a "double chin." The injection contains a naturally occurring molecule which eats away at fat. When injected properly, all other cells are left healthy and intact.

Kybella is injected under the skin directly into the area beneath your chin. A healthcare provider will give you this injection. Kybella must be given in a series of up to 6 treatment sessions in order to be effective. You may receive up to 50 injections at each session. You may be treated with a topical numbing medicine or an ice pack to ease pain and make you comfortable during the injections.

Each treatment session should be spaced no less than 1 month apart. Many people have had visible results after 2 to 4 sessions

Your doctor will determine the right number of Kybella injections and how many sessions you need, depending on the results you want.

Common Kybella side effects may include:

  • pain, swelling, bruising, or redness of treated skin areas; or

  • numbness or hardening of treated areas.

After resting for several hours, you should be able to resume all of your normal activities. However, a patient who has received RADIESSE® injections should minimize for 48 hours any activities that cause the facial muscles to move excessively or dramatically, such as drinking through straws, laughing, yelling, chewing gum or very chewy foods, and so forth.
